* We made a birthday caterpillar with a smiling head followed by black circles and glitter glue on each circle for the month - each child in that month had a colored circle with his/her name and the day of his/her birth. We made the circles fairly large and the caterpillars ( one for MWFclass and another for TTh) stretched acrss the whole front wall - it was very colorful and impressive! * I have made the classic birthday train cars and once also did flowers of birthday garden. * One idea I have used in the past is to have the saying Bitrhdays around the Year. I would have each month listed on the board with bullitin board letters and under the month word had a symbol for each month with the childs name and birthdate. For example: Sept - apples Oct. - pumpkins ... June - beach balls etc... * A birthday board idea that I have used is called Our Growing Garden. A section of grass is used for each month of the year. Flowers are given to each child with their name and their birthday on it. This stays up all year and it is cheerful, especially if you have gloomy days of winter. this year I am using a Noah theme, soI'm having the children being sets of animals and arranging them in order. * in Sept. I make identical birthday cakes out of construction paper for each child enrolled in the class. Each is labeled with a child's first names and birth date and the appropriate number of candles for their age. I display them across the top of the wall. The children like to identify their cake and whenever someone has a birthday throughout the year. a candle is added. The cakes also help everyone (curious parents too) keep track of how old the children are.
