1) Number Poems 0 - around we go, that's a ZERO 1 - down you run, and ONE is done. 2 - around, down, out we go, that is how you make a TWO you know! 3 - around, around like a capital "B", now you have a number three. 4 - down, across, down once more. Now I've made a number FOUR. 5 - short neck, tummy fat. Number FIVE wears a hat. 6 - down, around, at the bottom an "O" that's a number SIX you know. 7 - across the sky and down from heaven, that's the way to make a SEVEN. 8 - make an "S" but do not wait, go right back up and close the gate. Here is my number EIGHT. 9 - make a balloon and add a line. Now you've made a number NINE. 10 - make a ONE make a ZERO. That makes TEN. You're a hero! 2) Number Poem (2) Down you run and one is done. Around and down and out go you to make the number two. Around and around like a bumble bee to make the number three. Down, across and down once more to make the number four. Short neck, belly fat, number five has a hat. Down and around in an "O", this is six as you know. Go right and down from heaven, now you have a perfect seven. Make an "S" then come up straight, now you have a number eight. A circle on top of a line makes a number nine. Make a one, a zero then, now you have a number ten. 3) NUMBER SONGS AND FINGER PLAYS One-two-three  (Tune--This Old Man) Once I Caught A Fish Alive 1-2-3 1,2,3,4,5 Count with me Once I caught a fish alive It’s as easy as can be! 6,7,8,9,10 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 But I let it go again! Topics go with the month OR theme we are working on.  For instance in Oct. we do spiders in web, pumpkins on fence, apples in tree, leaves on tree. Each page is a "number sentence".   For instance I see 5 spiders on the floor and 0 spiders in the web.  Next page I see 4 spiders on the floor and 1 spider in the web. Etc.  I have the sentences across the top of the page and a web drawn on the paper and the children draw the spiders where they belong. In the apple and leave book I draw the tree and in the pumpkin book I draw the fence. The first time we do this it takes lots of guidance but by the time you get to the last month(10) the kids have it pretty well down pat.  We always use the same sentence structure.  I see.... Nov. (6) pilgrims and indians(sometimes the kids draw them sometimes we have clip art that they can color and cut out) feathers on the turkey(we put a turkey with no feathers on and they add) corn on the table( we draw a table) In January we do buttons on the snowman and I have used those cute snowman notepads and they draw buttons on them. These are class books that are rotated home on a daily basis and each child has done at least one page in one book.
