* We often combine PJ day with teddy bear day why not try that tie in. Also we LOVE to read The Napping House. we also pop popcorn and enjoy the snack while listening to the story. The only ideas associated with PJ that come to my mind are night time things like GoodNight Moon and bringing in flashlights. * We plan our P.J. day to celebrate Dr. Seuss birthday Off hand I think it is on March2 but I'm not sure. The kids can bring favorite stuffed animals and books (have them put there names on them) they can bring sleeping bags and sleep in them at nap time , we make sure they bring picnic type lunches We clear away all the tables bring lots of bean bags, big pillows sleeping bags, we all borrow lots of stuffed animals from our kids we put out board games, floor puzzles , dress up dolls, dress up clothes , lots of cars , on a rug that has roads and stuff on it , puppets , flannel board stuff and one year we taped a long piece of paper on the wall and let the kids draw on the (paper) wall, this was great the kids loved it. If you remind the kids this is a quiet day its the best, lots of cuddling up with the kids we had a parent helper come in so we could really enjoy the 1-1 * We do Pajama Day as our sick day. We paint spots on the children's faces. We put a sign on the door saying "Quarantine". Our school nurse comes to talk to us about health, and then she takes our temperature and our blood pressure. We eat chicken noodle soup, and drink juice. It's a fun day for all. * We always make doughnuts (a real easy recipe for cake doghnuts) on pajama day. that is the activity. If you don't feel up to making doughnuts, pancakes are easier. A good book for that is Pancakes, Pancakes. * We made cinnamon toast on this day. If you don't have sleeping bags--large pillow cases work great for sleeping bags and are usually easier to come by. We also: * brought flashlights. * colored with glow in the dark crayons * took our stuffed animals on a walk around the school (we like to use shoe boxes with a yarn pull string as a kind of carriage-the children love to take walks pulling something) Sometimes we pretend their sleds (we're in Texas), use them for collecting things on walks, etc. * used our school's parachute to play--put star shapes (from construction paper on the parachute) and make them fly! * painted with star cookie cutters Here's a simple way to make doughnuts and a song you can sing: Doughnuts Open a can biscuits. Cut a hole in the biscuit, with a cookie cutter or something round. Fry in deep fryer. Decorate. (I haven't done this at school, and would personally be uncomfortable using a deep fryer around the children). Maybe you could do that ahead of time. Song: Delicious Donuts tune: Frere Jacues A dozen donuts, a dozen donuts That means 12. That means 12. Chocolate, white or jelly-filled Ice or sprinkles, They are delicious. They are delicious. * Books: The Napping House.......?
