"Silly Week". Below are some ideas you can do on different days. Day 1: Mixed match clothes day and slippers. The children wear mixed matched clothes, maybe different colors, strips and patterns and different colored socks with their slipppers. Day 2: Sunglasses and Hat day. We were amazed at all the different hats that came in. Day 3: Wear one of your parents shirts and pack your lunch in something different other than a lunchbox. The children loved this day. They had so many laughs at wearing their parents shirts and their were so many creative ideas for their lunches. We saw mom's pocketbooks, pumpkin baskets, cereal boxes and small briefcases to mention some. Day 4: Backwards and Birthday day: Everyone spent the day going backwards and it was everyones birthday. The children all had cupcakes with a candle and sang happy birthday, walked backwards, did art backward and had breakfast for lunch. Day 5: Clown day. The children wore pokka dots and/or strips on their clothes. The children loved getting their face painted and playing circus games like bean bag toss at the clown and peanut toss to the elephant. We also enjoy a popcorn and lemonade stand for snack. This was a great and fun week for all. To help the parents remember all the days we sent home a memo listing all the ideas for each day and asked them to hang it on the refridgerator for an easy reminder. They did great!!! * CRAZY CONDUCTING Tell your children they are the world's greatest music conductors and they have total control over the orchestra Play some classical (or favorite) music and show them how to conduct with their hands.Next conduct the music with each finger separately then with as many body parts as possible. Most children will be able to conduct with their wrists ,elbows knees, nose ,feet ,hips, etc Next pretend it's above and below them Finally use akk parts of the body simultaneously as they conduct allowing the feelings of the music to enter them totally Here are the words to the Crazy Conducting Song to help you lead your children through this warm-up routine "Today boys and girls we are going to the symphony However the man who lead the musicians is not here so we have been asked to be the conductors. First of all let's march on stage (Pause while they march in place) Let's all straighten our ties Now let's bow to the audience Then turn and bow to the musicians Now stand up tall and get ready to be a crazy conductor. (start music) Lets start by conducting with one hand (pause) Now the other hand Bring both hands up and conduct with both hands Smile relax and feel the flow Let the music take you where you want to go Now lets conduct the music with our nose Can you feel the energy rise from your toes Now conduct with your jaw Move it back and forth like a saw Lift up your arms and let's conduct with one elbow Now your other elbow Now both elbows Now let's conduct with one shoulder And now the other shoulder How about both shoulders and your hips Smile relax and feel the flow Let the music take you where you want to go Now let's sit on the ground and conduct with one foot Then lets switch and do the other foot Now put them together and use both feet This will make you feel really neat Now stand up and use your elbows and knees You could probably do it with ease Now use your elbows knees and nose And maybe you can conduct with your toes Now let your whole body get into the flow Let the music take you where you want to go You were made to be happy and have lots of fun So give yourself a hug and say I'm a wonderful person! taken from Silly-cise for children by Scott Liebler
